Chris joined the club as a player in 1978 and later moved into coaching, guiding both of his sons, Nick and James, from U6 soccer school into senior football. Under Chris’s coaching, the team steadily rose through the Thames Valley Premier League, reaching the Premier Division in the 2015/16 season.

The team soon became consistent title contenders, winning the league title in 2021 and again in 2022, the latter including an unforgettable night at the Madjeski Stadium, where we completed the double by winning the league cup.

Chris will always be a club legend and was recently awarded "The Nick Markham" Club Award for his services to Finchampstead FC.

After the final game of this season, Chris stated, "There is something special about this club, and once it grabs you, you can't get out," also paying tribute to his sons and all the players who made his journey so special.

Finchampstead FC will always be indebted to Chris and looks forward to seeing him at the Memorial Ground cheering on the boys next season.
