The team started the match with great intensity yesterday, securing an early lead within the first 15 minutes through two goals from Ava, who ended the match with four and the girl of the game award.
Throughout the game the girls showed real effort and enthusiasm and it was encouraging to hear the increased vocal support and communication among the girls. This is a key part of football that we have been a focusing on in training sessions.
This only tells part of the story, the victory was the result of the girls winning individual battles across the pitch. It was great to keep a clean sheet which highlights the collective team effort. Special recognition is due to Tay, Ava, Lottie, and Faith for their composure throughout the match. Our midfield worked hard and despite Sandhurst loading the middle of the pitch Abbie, Lalia, Mellor, Rubby, and Lucy stopped any forward momentum Sandhurst tried to build. Playing as midfielders or wing backs requires huge stamina and Sadie and Grace consistently meet these demands and always with positive attitudes, well done girls. Upfront we look dangerous, Eve Rose continues to play a vital role linking the midfield with our attacks and it was great to see Ava add some aggression to her game. Tallulah’s return from injury was marked with a goal and Lills deserves acknowledgement for supporting the team despite her own injury, This is a great example of the team culture we are building, well done and thank you Lills.
