The girls were positive from the off and had Sandhurst defending for most of the match. We settled in to the game quickly and were rewarded with a great goal after 10 minutes with Lalia setting up a well taken goal by Tallulah. Only eight minutes later and we were two up, Eva with the assist and Mellor taking her goal well. Throughout the match, the girls showed excellent composure on the ball, passing the ball well and controlling the tempo.
Faith made some crucial saves when called upon, ensuring we held onto our lead and kept Sandhurst from getting back into the game. The defence remained solid, with everyone putting in the hard work required to recover possession and shut down Sandhurst's attacks. The midfield worked tirelessly, linking play and providing plenty of support across the pitch and the forwards always looked dangerous and hungry for goals.
It really felt like a team effort from start to finish, and it was great to see the pride and confidence growing within the group.
We knew that Sandhurst were going to be a physical team and would try to bully us but we stood strong and didn’t give an inch. The girls remained unfazed by the physicality, matching Sandhurst toe to toe while keeping their focus on playing good football and supporting each other.
Before the game we asked the girls to be good team mates, look after each other, stick together and work hard for each other. They all did this and did it so well that it was no surprise to see the improvement in our performance with our best display of the season so far.
Fantastic to keep a clean sheet which was testament to the work the girls put in across the pitch which was great to see. Every player contributed and there was a visible sense of camaraderie and determination, with players encouraging one another and celebrating every tackle and pass.
