On a foggy and damp morning, the girls took a few minutes to settle into the match but from the outset we were the stronger side. Our positive play was rewarded with the first of seven goals at the 14 minute mark, quickly followed by a second just five minutes later. From there we never looked back.
The girls pressed aggressively, worked hard across the pitch, played quality football and consistently exploited space behind Sandhurst’s defence, which was great to see and something we regularly focus on.
Very well done to the three goal scorers Eva, Mellor, and Tallulah all of whom looked sharp. However, scoring is always a huge team effort, made possible by the tireless work from every player. Grace, Lilia and Isla brought positivity and width with the ball, while Abbie and Lucy powered the midfield with relentless energy. Our back three, Ava C, Lotte, and Lils remained composed and solid throughout. Ava E's pace, whether up front or on the wing posed a constant threat and she continues to gel well with the Fire Blues.
Due to the work the outfield players put in Faith had another quiet game in goal but her focus was excellent, as was her kicking and communication and she brought great energy when playing outfield. Thank you to Ava C for putting on the gloves and making some outstanding saves.
It was another strong all round team performance and it’s fantastic to achieve comfortable back to back wins, even with a squad impacted by injuries. We asked the girls to focus on being good teammates again and it was heartening to see them celebrating both the goals and the win together.
