The Fire Blues gave absolutely everything in a tense and hard fought cup final that finished goalless after normal time, before Wargrave edged it 3–2 on penalties. It’s a heartbreaking way to lose but the girls should be incredibly proud of the performance they delivered. They were disciplined, brave and fully committed from start to finish across every part of the pitch.
A special shout out to Tallulah, Mellor, Lottie, Eva and Faith for stepping up in the shootout. Taking a penalty in a cup final takes real courage and their bravery deserves huge credit. Every one of them struck their penalty well with none missed, they were just kept out by a very good goalkeeper.
Thank you to everyone who came to support the girls and it was brilliant to see so many of you back at the clubhouse afterwards. Watching the girls running around in the sunshine with smiles on their faces, enjoying being together as a team, was a reminder of what makes this group so special.
